SHREK JR. 2026

Shrek Jr. Auditions

Auditions will be held at 1pm on May 2nd.  Please read all the details below carefully and come prepared to auditions.

Parent meeting to follow at 3:30pm. Please plan to attend.

Auditions at Impact Theater are no-cut.  This means that if your child is signed up for our show, and their deposit is paid, they will be cast.  We simply use auditions to place our students in the best role for them and for the show.

Parents are allowed to attend auditions, but we ask that you sit in the last 3 rows of the sanctuary, and that if you attend auditions that you remain in the room the whole time. If you leave the space, we ask that you remain outside because having parents walking in and out is extremely distracting to all of our students.

Music Auditions

Please prepare 2 of the following songs: #1 "This is How a Dream Comes True", #2 "I Know Its Today", #3 "Big Bright Beautiful World", #4"Travel Song", Plus the #5 "Finale" as either Fiona or Shrek. If you are interested in playing Donkey, please also prepare #6 "Make a Move" rap.

The directors will then listen to a select group sing the "Finale" to see if they can hold their harmony part with another student. Mrs. Ashley has provided a recording for Fiona's and Shrek's parts so you can practice it alone at m. 43-66. For the "Finale" song, if you are interested in a female presenting role, please learn the Fiona part, and if you are interested in a male presenting role, please learn the Shrek parts.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out.

Audition Sides

In Theater, sides are small portions of the script that allow directors to hear your speaking voice, and see your acting skills during an audition.  For our auditions, you will be asked to choose a monologue that you feel really demonstrates your acting ability! Make it your own and have fun- we are looking for outgoing, risk-taking, comic actors for ALL roles. You will not be considered for a lead unless your monologue is fully memorized at auditions. Please prepare.

BASE LAYER Information

Base layers at Impact theater are a way for us to allow kids to get into costume and make costume changes backstage.  We ask that you provide your student with the items listed under their character.  If you have any questions about the base layers, please reach out in the WhatsApp Group. Keep in mind that these will be worn under their costume, so lighter weight items will be best.  Please also keep in mind that we will have multiple costume days, where they will be wearing these items. Please try to provide multiple sets of the items, or be sure to wash them between each wearing.

We will have character specific base layers, and will be sure to update with those after costume try-ons
